Acupuncture

Acupuncture, whose effects have been proven but whose mechanism is still unknown, is a traditional treatment technique that is applied by inserting very thin needles into certain parts of the body. Acupuncture is a long-established practice. Whether it may be used as a complementary method in a given case is determined by the physician after evaluating the person's history and examination findings. Acupuncture is performed by a certified physician in centres authorised by the Ministry of Health. As with any medical application, acupuncture may have undesired effects and there are situations in which it is not suitable. The person's history and existing conditions are assessed by the physician beforehand, and detailed information about possible risks is provided. The aim is to activate the body's self-repair mechanisms by balancing the energy flow.

Disposable, sterile, and very thin needles are inserted into the relevant areas that are planned to be treated. The first contact of the needles with the skin causes a very slight pain. After a short time, it is felt that the temperature begins to increase. The inserted needles remain on the skin for about half an hour. Special stimulation techniques are used in order to create certain effects in the treatment. In this regard, the needles used can be heated, stimulated by subconscious excitation current, or moved up and down if needed.

Acupuncture can be used to treat the following conditions:
• Headache and migraine
• Back pain
• Digestive system disorders
• Rheumatic complaints
• Respiratory diseases that are chronic
• Allergies
• Smoking cessation
• Slimming
• Obstetrics and Gynecology
• Insomnia
